Saru Jayaraman will be speaking about justice in the retaurant industry. She is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United and Director of the Food Labor Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley. Ater 9/11, together with displaced World Trade Center workers, she co-founded ROC to help these workers secure promised jobs. The organization now has 13,000 worker members, over 100 employer partners, and several thousand consumer members in 32 cities nationwide. She has recently published a book, Behind the Kitchen Door, about living wage and worker justice in the restaurant industry and beyond.
