Ten Days of Awareness About Human Trafficking

“Human Trafficking.”  Just the phrase is appalling.  See below for opportunities to learn more, get involved, and support other intensive students who are part of this call to awareness.  Human Services students Kim Kubal and Monique Hunter are both presenting, Kim on Tuesday at noon and Monique on Wednesday at 7PM.

 

Events have been organized by the Sister Dorothy Stang Center for Social Justice and Director Jim McGarry announces the following:

·        Tuesday, March 11, NDNU Student Kim Kubal, a Roundtable in the Sr.Dorothy Stang Conference Room, 12:30-1:30 pm on Kim’s work for vicitms of trafficking in India and here (see flyer below.)
·        Wednesday, March 12, Movie: Not for Sale, Wiegand Gallery Theater, 4-5:30pm
·        Thursday, March 13, Movies: Runaway Girl (Carissa Phelps’s story) and Look Beneath the Surface, 7:30-8:30pm, Sr. Dorothy Stang Center Conference Room
·        Tuesday, March 18, Sr. Cecilia Liberatore SND, a Roundtable 12:30-1:30pm in the Sr. Dorothy Stang Center Conference Room on Sr. Cecilia’s work on behalf of victims of trafficking in Ohio (see flyer below.)
·        Tuesday,  March 18, Movies: Runaway Girl (Carissa Phelps’s story) and Look Beneath the Surface, 7:30-8:30pm, Sr. Dorothy Stang Center Conference Room
·        Wednesday, March 19th, Carissa Phelps on “Ending Human Trafficking in our Communities” with special message from San Mateo Chief of Police, Susan Manheimer; 7:00-8:45pm , Cunningham Chapel. Introduction by NDNU student Monique Hunter; after the talk there will be a panel responding to student questions, including Sr. Margaret Hoffmann, SNDdN, Sr. Marguerite Buchanan, RSM and Sr. Cecilia Liberatore, SND.
