Service and Community, Toastmasters, and Music… All On Campus This Week!

Thursday, October 10, 5-7p.m., Half Moon Bay.  Join faculty, staff, and students at “Table of Plenty,” in Half Moon Bay.  This is a wonderful experience of community, within those from NDNU who participate and with those for whom the event is designed.  Work together to create an elegant, restaurant-style experience for individuals and families in need.

Friday, October 11, 7:30-9:30pm in Cuvilly Hall

The High Spirits Toastmasters Club is having an open house meeting demo.  All students, faculty, and staff are invited.  Our club offers a meeting format that allows people to attend as often as they wish, for free, to practice speaking in front of a classroom.  This allows people to experience the feeling of speaking in front of a group, and helps gain confidence and self-esteem.  Guests may participate during the Table Topics session by give a 1 to 2 minutes speech in response to a question (similar to a job interview).  Members present 5 to 7 minutes speeches during the prepared speech session.  Membership is for a 6-month term and costs $67.60.  We provide a discount for students at $46.00 (we pay the books and provide a mentor).  Again, the meetings are free, and people can come as often as they like without joining and still participate (except that they are not allowed to give prepared speeches).  We regularly meet twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Fridays nights.
