Lisa Blanchard started The Grateful Garment Project as part of her Human Services Senior Seminar capstone project about two years ago.  Now she is working on a graduate degree and continues to run the project.  Tonight, NBC Bay Area Proud will be highlighting her organization and its success in returning dignity to victims of sexual violence during the 5 p.m. news.  Watch if you can; we will post a follow up if we can get a copy after it airs.

From the Grateful Garment web site:  The Grateful Garment Project is a non-profit organization whose entire mission is to assist in the process of returning dignity to victims of sexual violence. We accomplish this by providing additional resources and tools to Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) facilities, Community Based Organizations (CBO), hospitals and medical facilities, and law enforcement and social agencies. These resources could be as simple as a pairs of socks for a victim, or as technical as implements utilized in the SART exam process. Our scope is wide but our purpose is narrow: To reduce any further negative impact on victims of sexual assault.
